Saving Twiggy
Our beloved dog Twiggy, had escaped her fenced compound. Scaling an 8 foot fence, had all of a sudden became her new trick after 5 years. Trying to further enclose such a large area became a daunting task, however, after many new add-ons, it appeared the fun game was over. Unfortunately after 3 weeks of no attempts, she scaled it and ran. She was hit by a car and ran into a massive wooded area that spans two towns. Posting on social seemed to be the best avenue in hopes that someone would see her. Within an hour, Rhonda and her team of volunteers had showed up at the last known siting to help! She had seen my post.
Fraught with panic, to all of a sudden have what felt like a team, was very comforting. It was alot of ground to cover. She not only showed up almost immediately, but provided all the guidance of putting up posters, designed the poster for best visibility and continued to assist daily! Rhonda and the volunteers, Jean, Maggie, Kelly not only arranged a full walk, but went out on their own numerous times looking in different areas. Through snow storms, worst of weather. arranged a search, guided me to a drone search and rescue company and more!
All pet owners know that losing a pet out in the world is heartbreaking. I had never been in the situation and was not only humbled, but grateful for the selfless efforts and time everyone had put in to try and help find Twiggy! Weeks later, they still follow up and check-in.
It is with a broken heart, that we did not get Twiggy back. I can honestly say, that at the end of the day, all of their help and assistance and care, we at least feel that every possible attempt was made! It is comfort, even though the loss.
The work they do is phenomenal. They put their time, heart and efforts into helping all those that have lost a pet out there. Not only caring for our beloved pets, but also the owners that are experiencing the loss.
They truly do make all the difference in such a scary and heartbreaking situation. They have helped a ton of owners resulting in so many happy endings!
Dedicated to Twiggy, Rhonda @ Quinte West Lost Paws, Mark @ Aerial Search & Rescue, Sandy and her search dog, Duke and all the amazing volunteers!
