KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS • FALL FOOD DRIVE FOR SALVATION ARMY FOOD BANK Our Fall Food Drive Delivers 350 Banada Boxes, roughly 21,000 lbs of NEWLY PURCHASED Groceries AND cash donations of $4,216 Dollars from CK shoppers benefiting the Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries Food Bank at 46 Orangewood Blvd., Chatham, On. This wonderful Community response even surpassed the Council's previous grocery record of 16,000 lbs raised during their MEGASIZED Food Drive in April 2026. The Food Bank's nearly bare shelves created an urgent need that, once again, the Knights of Columbus Blessed Sacrament Council #1412 rose to fill this need! The Food Drive & Fundraiser concluded its September 17–19 MEGASIZED FOOD DRIVE with an outstanding community response! Shoppers at both Food Basics and the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham donated throughout the three-day drive. The 350-box result exceeded the Council’s April food drive total of 316 boxes by 34 boxes. The donations arrived at a critical time. Food Bank shelves were nearly bare, and the groceries collected will help The Salvation Army respond to individuals and families in Chatham-Kent who are facing food insecurity and need immediate support. “Our community answered the call when the need could not have been greater. Every grocery item, every dollar and every volunteer hour helped replenish shelves that were nearly empty,” said Steve Brent, Co-Program Director – Food Banks and Grocery Stores for Council #1412. “We are deeply grateful to the shoppers, volunteers, store teams and Community Partners who made this result possible.” The campaign’s finale included the presentation of the collected donations at The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries Food Bank, 46 Orangewood Boulevard in Chatham. A new video of the presentation shows the impact of the drive and the importance of sustained community support. Council #1412 extends special thanks to Pastor Lieutenant Jamie Anstey and Pastor Captain Lana Anstey for their compassionate leadership, as well as to The Salvation Army’s staff, Church Parishioners and Volunteers for their daily commitment to serving the community. The Council also thanks Food Basics and the Real Canadian Superstore for welcoming the campaign, and every volunteer who gave time during the three-day drive. The food drive reflects a longstanding partnership between the Knights of Columbus Blessed Sacrament Council #1412 and The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries...together, these organizations continue to turn service, community, compassion, kindness and faith into practical help for neighbours in need. Blessings all!!! 💛🙏
