My Highschool Journey

Throughout my time at Ursuline College Chatham, I learned that leadership is about much more than academic achievement. While I worked hard to maintain Honours with Distinction, I also immersed myself in school life through four years of Student Council, Lancer Link, three years on the badminton team, and participating in our school musicals as both an orchestra member and technical crew volunteer. These experiences allowed me to build meaningful relationships with students and staff while helping create a welcoming and inclusive school community. I wanted every person I met to feel respected, supported, and valued. Outside of school, I carried those same values into my community. Through more than 260 hours of volunteering with organizations including the Salvation Army, Knights of Columbus, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Learning Disabilities of Chatham-Kent, and Monsignor Uyen Catholic School, I discovered the importance of serving others without expecting recognition. As a Student Ambassador for Your Kindness Corner, I promoted kindness, empathy, and inclusion, while my role as a Team Leader at McDonald’s strengthened my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Whether mentoring new employees, volunteering at community events, or supporting my classmates, I always tried to lead by example. When my classmates chose me as valedictorian, it became one of the proudest moments of my life. Knowing they trusted me to represent them meant more than any grade or award because it reflected the relationships we had built over four years together. It showed me that leadership is earned through kindness, service, and genuine connection with others. Standing on the graduation stage, I wasn’t representing only myself—I was honoured to represent a class that had inspired me every step of the way. As my high school journey comes to an end, I am excited for the opportunities to follow. In September, I will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Medical Sciences at Western University. I hope that the education and skills that I have obtained up to this point will serve me well in the coming years, and I am excited to see where this new journey will take me.
