🦌 Non-Profit Spotlight: Cochrane Ecological Institute

Located in Rocky View County, just north of Cochrane, Alberta, the **Cochrane Ecological Institute (CEI)** has been devoted to wildlife and conservation for more than 60 years. CEI is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of cultural and biological diversity through education, the reintroduction of extirpated flora and fauna, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife, monitoring, and research. They have been in operation for over 60 years and are the largest outdoor rehabilitation facility in Western Canada. 💛 Why It Began The Cochrane Ecological Institute was created by the Smeeton family out of a deep love and respect for nature and the environment — and especially for wildlife. That love and respect continue to guide CEI's work in wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, education, and research today. 🌎 Who They Serve & Their Impact In their own words, **“We serve the entire planet!”** While CEI is located in Rocky View County, just north of Cochrane, Alberta, and caters to wildlife throughout Alberta, many of their patients travel the globe as part of their natural migratory patterns. That means the impact of the wildlife they rehabilitate and release can reach far beyond Alberta — with their “satisfied clients” found across the planet! 🔬 Current Initiatives & Needs CEI is currently conducting research into **bats**, while simultaneously continuing its daily wildlife rehabilitation work.
