๐ Non-Profit Spotlight: Cochrane Regional Food Bank & Neighbour to Neighbour Thrift Shop
Your Kindness Corner
In Cochrane and across surrounding northern communities, a strong network of care is ensuring that no one has to face hunger alone.
The Cochrane Regional Food Bank is a community-driven organization dedicated to ensuring that no one in the region goes hungry. Their mission is to provide accessible food support, practical resources, and compassionate assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
They believe that access to food is a basic human right and work every day to ensure neighbours have the support they need during difficult times.
Beyond emergency food assistance, the organization focuses on strengthening the community through education, partnerships, and innovative programming. From cooking and nutrition workshops to community meal programs and outreach initiatives, they empower people with skills and support that extend beyond the food hamper itself.
The food bank also serves as a regional hub, helping supply and support other northern communities and partner food banks โ creating a network of care that reaches those who need it most.
๐ Why It Began
The Cochrane Regional Food Bank was created out of a simple but powerful belief: communities are strongest when neighbours help neighbours.
Recognizing that many individuals and families were quietly struggling with food insecurity, local community leaders and volunteers came together to build a place where people could turn without judgment.
What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a regional support system that provides not only food, but connection, resources, and a sense of belonging.
