π Non-Profit Spotlight: FreeHelpCK
Your Kindness Corner
In the heart of Chatham-Kent, something powerful is happening β not through grand gestures, but through consistent, compassionate action.
At FreeHelpCK, the mission is simple and deeply human: to meet people where they are with dignity, compassion, and love. Every program, every delivery, every stocked pantry reflects a belief that no one in the community should feel forgotten.
π± Why It Began
FreeHelpCK was created after witnessing something many overlook β seniors choosing between food and medication, children without school supplies, and families quietly carrying financial hardship behind closed doors.
Rather than waiting for large systems to change, founder Geri Ann Hughson chose to act. Guided by faith and the conviction that small acts of kindness can create lasting impact, FreeHelpCK was born from a simple but powerful realization:
We may not fix everything β but we can step in and help.
𧑠Who They Serve
FreeHelpCK supports seniors, youth, families, and individuals across Chatham-Kent. Their programs are:
Free
Accessible
Barrier-free
By restocking nine community food pantries twice weekly, delivering senior meals three times per week, and supporting students and families throughout the year, they provide more than food or clothing β they restore dignity and hope.
π Current Focus: Prom & Grad Program
Right now, FreeHelpCK is preparing for one of the most meaningful milestones in a young personβs life.
Through their Prom & Grad Program, youth can receive dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry, and accessories at no cost β ensuring they can attend their special day with confidence and pride.
At the same time, the organization continues its essential work:
Restocking nine community food pantries accessed daily
Delivering senior meals three times each week
Supporting families through seasonal initiatives
Running programs like Operation Backpack to equip students for success

Every single act of kindness directly impacts someone in Chatham-Kent.
As Founder Geri Ann Hughson shares:
βTogether, we can make sure no one in Chatham-Kent feels unseen. When a community leads with love, incredible things happen.β
FreeHelpCK is a reminder that meaningful change does not always begin with scale β it begins with care.
And in Chatham-Kent, that care is making a real difference every day. π
