πŸ’™ Non-Profit Spotlight: The Greater Glass Co. The Greater Glass Co. is working to raise awareness about human trafficking, educate youth and families, and create greater safety and hope for survivors. The Greater Glass Co. provides a necessary response to the prevalence of human sex trafficking. We exist to help people to understand their created purpose, advocate for the vulnerable, amplify the voices of survivors and advance the good work already being done through education. Their short-term goals are to provide additional educational resources about human trafficking and develop a social enterprise that creates jewelry from beach glass. The jewelry serves as a tangible reminder of their message: **even something broken or discarded can have beauty and value β€” and every individual has inherent worth.** These efforts are helping lay the foundation for The Greater Glass Co.’s long-term goals: providing specialized trauma care for survivors of human trafficking and establishing a much-needed safe house where survivors can find safety, support, and the opportunity for restoration. πŸ’› Why It Began The Greater Glass Co. was born out of a growing concern for the women and girls affected by human trafficking in their community. As a border city situated along the 400-series highway corridor, their community is part of a major transportation route, along which 65% of human sex trafficking occurs in Canada. Learning about the prevalence of trafficking along these corridors opened their eyes to a problem that can feel distant β€” but is actually much closer to home than many people realize. They wanted to do something tangible to help bring awareness to the issue, support those working to escape trafficking, and create greater safety and hope for survivors in their community. Ultimately, The Greater Glass Co. also wants to help students grow in confidence of their inherent worth, making them less vulnerable. 🧑 Who They Serve & Their Impact The Greater Glass Co. serves youth, parents and families, survivors of human trafficking, and the families of those who have been victimized. They work to reach young people with educational resources and curriculum that help them understand their value and recognize that their worth is not determined by the brokenness they experience. They equip parents and families with greater awareness of the realities of human trafficking, along with practical strategies for creating open, honest communication with their children. By helping families recognize warning signs and create safe spaces for conversation, they hope to strengthen the first line of protection around vulnerable young people. For survivors, The Greater Glass Co. seeks to create opportunities for them to have a voice and to know that their stories and experiences matter. They also provide support and connection for families whose loved ones have been affected by trafficking, recognizing that they too need care, understanding, and hope. Through education, awareness, advocacy, and practical support, The Greater Glass Co. works to turn awareness into action and remind the community that every person has inherent worth. 🚨 Current Initiatives & Needs The Greater Glass Co. is always looking for opportunities to share their mission and raise awareness about human trafficking in the community. They welcome opportunities to speak with: β€’ Community groups β€’ Churches β€’ Schools β€’ Other organizations that want to learn more about human trafficking and how they can be part of the solution The Greater Glass Co. also hosts beach-glass jewelry-making sessions, providing a hands-on activity. Through this experience people understand that broken things can be made beautiful. If it’s true for beach glass, how much more true could be for people. Every One Has a Story. These sessions start important conversations, and raise awareness. In the near future, The Greater Glass Co. will be launching a fundraising campaign to help move closer to their long-term goals of providing specialized trauma care and a safe house for survivors of human trafficking. As they grow, they are looking for community partners, volunteers, and supporters who want to help turn awareness into meaningful action. 🀝 How You Can Support There are several simple ways to support The Greater Glass Co. right now. It’s sustained pressure, collective action, and visible disruption. Wave after wave, until the edges are softened, the truth is laid bare for everyone to see, and the need for change can no longer be denied. You are invited to be part of the solution.
