Wild Rose Humane Society (WRHS) cares for more than 140 cats and dogs annually, providing shelter, care, and lifesaving medical services to animals in need before helping them find homes in the community. The cost of caring for these animals has increased significantly in recent years. Currently, WRHS has approximately 30 cats in its care, ranging from kittens to seniors, with a variety of different needs. Some have medical conditions requiring one-on-one help, with that care supported by dedicated volunteers. WRHS provides unexpected lifesaving medical services to animals in its care, provides shelter for abandoned animals, and helps adopt them back into the community. As a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization, WRHS relies on the generosity of its community and supporters to care for the animals who come through its doors. Everything from electricity and heat to veterinary care is made possible through volunteer contributions, community support, and donations. 💛 Why It Began Wild Rose Humane Society was created because the local area needed an animal shelter. WRHS was incorporated as a not-for-profit society in 2007. After nine years of fundraising, supporters made it possible for the organization to purchase the old Didsbury Vet Clinic. The new shelter at 13 Coop Road officially opened on June 23, 2018, giving WRHS a dedicated space to continue caring for animals in need. 🧡 Who They Serve & Their Impact Wild Rose Humane Society serves the community and animals throughout the surrounding area. They make an impact by caring for abandoned animals, taking them off the streets, and providing them with the shelter, medical attention, and care they need. Their support also reaches beyond the animals directly in their shelter. WRHS works with other charities in Didsbury, including the local food bank, to provide animal food to families in need. Through the work of volunteers and the support of the community, WRHS continues to provide care for animals while supporting local families and other organizations whenever possible. 🚨 Current Initiatives & Needs Wild Rose Humane Society is currently preparing for its 5th Annual Big Bash event on October 23, 2026. The event will help raise money to cover veterinary bills and other care needs for the animals at WRHS. With the cost of animal care continuing to increase, fundraising and community support play an important role in helping WRHS provide the veterinary care, food, shelter, and other necessities their animals need. 🤝 How You Can Support There are several ways to support Wild Rose Humane Society right now: • Donate through their website • Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win tickets to Stage West • Purchase tickets to the Big Bash event • Volunteer • Follow Wild Rose Humane Society on social media and support their initiatives As a volunteer-driven organization, community support and donations directly help WRHS continue caring for cats and dogs in need. 💬 In Their Words “Taking care of little paws with big hearts” From providing shelter and lifesaving medical care to helping abandoned animals find homes, Wild Rose Humane Society continues to care for animals in its community with the help of volunteers, donors, and supporters who make that work possible. 🐾💛 Visit them at www.wildrosehumane.ca
